So, did you set an intention for your style this year? Because I recommend it, but I also don’t.
Here’s what I mean.
I DON’T recommend intentions like, “I’m going to lose 50lbs and then start wearing the clothes I want to wear,” or “I’m not going to wear ANY black for all of 2022.”
Waiting to enjoy getting dressed, setting standards that you will likely not achieve, and boxing yourself into absolutes leads to a high rate of disappointment and A LOT of waiting to enjoy your life.
I DO, however, recommend intentions such as, “I’m going to work on asking myself how I want to FEEL before choosing what I’m going to wear,” or “I’m going to make one small, manageable change to my style every morning for a week.”
And hey! If you pick the second intention, I’ve got a tool for you! You can use my 5-Day #stretchyourstylesimply Challenge to get you going. It’s fun and easy and a great way to start the year by starting small.
Every January 1st, my spouse, Adam and I set intentions. These are different from resolutions. They are more like hopes & dreams for the year (sometimes we do 5 & 10 year intentions – looking back on those has been COOL!). We strongly believe in the power of an intention to set our hearts and minds down a path we want to go. You can listen to us set our 2022 intentions here!
So, as you consider starting off the year with a personal style bang, be gentle and be realistic. Don’t avoid it altogether. Please don’t give up on yourself.
