Ten years ago, I took a deep breath and bet on myself. I left behind a “golden handcuff’s (more like bronze),” government job as a Social Worker, trusting that I could create something rooted in connection, healing, and style. The way it has unfolded has completely delighted me, and I feel so lucky to have touched so many lives along the way.
Let’s back up.
I was raised by artists—gallery owners, painters, designers, pianists, and actors. Creativity has always been part of me: sewing my own clothes as a kid, singing in high school, and in college, choosing social work—a different kind of art, rooted in empathy and connection.
My work at the VA was meaningful, but it wasn’t a culture fit, and more importantly, it didn’t nurture my creativity or my desire to lead with fun. On weekends, I helped friends with their closets—reworking outfits, rebuilding confidence, and showing them what was already there. They consistently told me it was more than just clothes—that they felt more confident and like themselves again, and how I helped them realize what they’d had all along.
A friend told me, “Your personal style and your background in Social Work are the perfect combination.” That was the seed that sparkled Sol Reflection.
With the support of my later-to-be spouse, Adam, who believed in me from jump, I left my job, launched a private therapy practice, and began building the heart of my work today—Fashion Therapy.
I’m most proud of two things: The brand that grew from a sparkle of an idea, and the indescribable transformations of my clients.
I love who I get to walk alongside. Guiding clients as they step fully into their most authentic expression through what they wear, and seeing how their style influences the way they show up in the world to achieve their wildest dreams, continues to be my greatest joy.
And it inspires, and inspires, and inspires me to grow and do more.
A few of my favorite client glimmers:
✨“I have never felt more like myself… both my energy and confidence are boosted.” —Hillary L., Asheville, NC
✨“I never thought she could help me transform from the outside in, but she taught me to not look at my clothes as something to hide behind and use my clothes a way to shine my light.” —Yvette D., Southern C
✨“Marisol helped me understand not just who I am, but who I’m growing into. I would recommend Marisol to anyone who is at an inflection point and making a a shift in their life, stepping into an identity.” —Matt A., Asheville, NC
✨“Marisol is a professional and caring personal stylist who can represent one’s soul and heart through the choice of clothes and accessories.” —Marta, Edinburgh, Scotland
